Autumn Harvest Card for Mojo Monday

When I saw this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch challenge I immediately thought of turning it into a waterfall card.  I turned the sketch on it's side and used the Autumn Harvest stamp set for it.

I used Woodland Walk Designer Series Paper  for the background over Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla card stock with Cherry Cobbler card stock used for the back of the waterfall part.

The images are water colored with So Saffron, More Mustard, Cherry Cobbler, Wild Wasabi, Garden Green and Chocolate Chip Classic Inks using an Aquapainter.

Trick or Treat Pumpkin

I wanted to share this Top Note Bigz Die Box with you on Sunday but I had to hold off until today because it is for my October Stamp Class.  Hope you like it!

It's a Hoot!

Most people who know me realize that I am mildly obsessed with recycling and I've even been known to bring bags of trash home with me when I go visiting.  lol  So over time I've ended up with quite a little stash of empty Stampin' Up! button, brad and eyelet containers.

I finally broke them out and here is what I came up with :

An adorable little treat holder for the kids (or grown ups).

To create the Old Olive Grosgrain Ruffle I took a 15" piece of ribbon, put sticky strip flush with one edge, along the entire length of it and then slowly worked my way around the front of the container, pleating the ribbon as I went.

The Daffodil Delight circle was punched out using the 1-3/4" Circle Punch and then the edges were inked with More Mustard Classic Ink and with Frost White Shimmer Paint.  In real life the shimmer paint is a little more subtle.

The branch is Always Artichoke card stock punched from the 2 Step Bird punch.

I used Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Peach Parfait and Whisper White card stock along with the retired Creepy Crawly Designer Series Paper, punched them out with the 2 Step Owl Punch and then pieced them together.

To finish off the inside I cut out (3) 2-1/2" circles from Textured Old Olive card stock with the retired Coluzzle and, using Dimensionals & Tombow Mono Multi Glue, attached them to the back of the cover, the inside of the container and the back of the container.

The Crop-A-Dial punched right through the container and I added  1/4" Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon to create a necklace.  You could use a shorter piece if you only wanted to add a handle.

Let's Celebrate Card Bag

Just a quick post today because I have tons of catch up to do from yesterday.  Our furnace decided to have a bad attitude yesterday morning and, after spraying boiling water all over the furnace/laundry room, it just stopped.  I went down and hit the reset button but instead of starting it just spewed a little more water before releasing a cloud of black smoke that filled the room.  It's old as dirt so we feared the worse but thankfully our heating guy is amazing and was able to fix it.  Woo hoo for Kevin!

On to the project :

This is one of the 3-D item that we made at last month's Stamp Class.   I changed the dimensions up a bit so that 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" cards and envelopes would fit inside.

Happy Bearthday 3-D Card

 

Tomorrow is the birthday party for a special little pirate.  He is all boy and loves pirates!  Mostly because they get to use swords. So, when I saw the new Season of Hugs stamp set in the Holiday Mini I knew it was a must have because I can use it to turn the Build a Bear boy into an adorable pirate!

Kids are harder to impress with hand made cards so I always try to make theirs interactive in some way.

This is a tent card and when you pull on the tab at the top the image slides up to reveal the message.  I love it!

If you were making this style of card for an older child or an adult you could use glue dots to adhere a gift card to the top pull area for a hidden surprise.

The card colors are Basic Black and Pear Pizzazz with Whisper White for the inside.  The main image was stamped onto Watercolor Paper with Jet Black StazOn and then colored using an Aqua Painter and my Classic Ink Pads.

The little bear paw prints on the "Happy Bearthday!" layer were colored using my White Signo gel pen and to make the sword a little shiny I colored it with Basic Gray and then painted over that with Moonlight Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink.

An Eerie Shadow Box Card

A 3-D card is always a big hit when it's opened up so I've been trying to stamp more of them lately.  I know that this spooky one is going to be a huge hit with all of the kids on Halloween.

It really couldn't be any easier to make.  You take two pieces of 4-1/4" x 5-1/2", score them at 1/2" and 1" on each end, cut a window out of the front piece, stamp a scene on the back piece and then glue them together on the two edges.  I used Concord Crush card stock (which is a current In Color) for the front and Glossy White card stock for the back.  

I used Jet Black StazOn to stamp the image from House of Haunts onto the Glossy White card stock.  When the ink was dry I placed a Post-It Note mask (punched with the 1-1/4" Circle Punch) over the owl and then sponged Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango and Concord Crush Classic Ink over the scene.  When I was done sponging the colors I peeled off the mask and then used the Moonlight Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink the paint the moon.  This gives it a nice shimmery-ness.  :-)

Quick Tip : When sponging the ink, make sure to cover the Glossy White card stock completely so that when anyone looks down into the card they don't see any of the white card stock peeking through.

To decorate the front of the card I stamped the pumpkin image with Concord Crush Classic Ink randomly over the front and then stamped the saying onto Glossy White card stock and sponged it to match the inside.  This was attached to the front using dimensionals.

I love how it came out and think it's so cute!  What more can you ask for, quick easy and definitely a big WOW!

My Island Oasis Mojo

This weeks Mojo138 sketch is a square card and, since I tend to create mostly standard size cards, I wanted to stick to the square.

The only stamping on the card is the saying which comes from the Upsy Daisy stamp set.  I stamped it with Whisper White Craft ink and then heat embossed it using White EP.

The 3-D flower was created using the Island Floral Bigz Die with my Big Shot and the Extra Large Fancy Flower Punch.

The edges of the So Saffron Flower were inked up using a sponge dauber and classic ink.  The petals of the Rose Red and Tempting Turquoise flowers were cut apart and then folded & glued to make them more three dimensional.  When they dried I layered them behind the small flower using Dimensionals and Tombow Mono Multi Glue.  The Old Olive leaves where done the same as the flowers and then glued to the back.  I completed the flower by adding a Turquoise Rhinestone Brad to the center.  All of the designer paper used, including the  faux ribbon strips, is from Island Oasis DSP which is available in the new 2010 Summer Mini.

Using the Two Step Bird Punch for PPA41

This weeks PPA41 Challenge was to find inspiration from a photo of several items and see what you could create.

Here's the front of the card I came up with :

The birds were punched from Ruby Red, Bashful Blue and So Saffron card stock using the Two Step Bird punch from SU!  I then used sponge daubers and my coordinating stamp pads to give the edges a little extra color so that the birds would have more dimension on the card.

I used two of the branch pieces from the punch and created a frame for the sentiment, which comes from the Spring Song stamp set, at the bottom of the card. They were lightly sponged with Bashful Blue ink before I glued them down.

The polka dotted layer on the front and on the bottom of the inside were made by running a piece of Whisper White cs through the Big Shot with my Perfect Polka Dot Impression Folder that had been inked up with Bashful Blue ink.  This added a little extra color to the card and really made the dots stand out.

To finish off the front I added a bow of Bashful Blue Taffeta ribbon that has a Button Bouquet tied onto it using silver cording.

Before the Renovation Begins

I am really excited about the new Color Renovation coming in July, but there are a few colors I'm going to miss.  I decided to use them while I can. So, this card uses Pale Plum and Mellow Moss along with Perfect Plum (which is staying).

Here's the front view :

I'm disappointed at how dark the ribbon looks in this photo.  I tried to lighten it to what it looks like IRL but it ruined the rest of the card when I did.  So, I'll just have to deal with it.  The ribbon is White Taffeta that I colored Perfect Plum using my re-inker and a sponge dauber.

Here's a look at the inside, which contains a surprise! 

It's a Bookmark card.  I cut the base of the card out of 12 x 12 cardstock with the measurements of 5-1/2" x 10".  I then scored it at 4-1/4" using a bone folder and at 8-1/2" using the perforating cutter on the Cutter Kit.  This created a regular size card with a 1-1/2" x 5-1/2" tab that I turned into a bookmark.

Sticky Velcro that doesn't stick and Trendy Trees

Sorry that it's been awhile since I've posted anything.  I have been creating but with the warm weather, busy days filled with my daycare kids and evening baseball/T-Ball games the time has just been flying by.  I'm sure that you all can relate!

Trendy Trees is a stamp set that I've wanted since the first time I saw it in the Stampin' Up! 2009 Summer/Spring Idea Book & Catalog.  I love the simplicity of it but it's so versatile that you can use it to create cards and projects for all seasons and all reasons!  Here, I've used it on a card holder that I created this week.

 

Card Recipe (All SU!) : Stamps - Trendy Trees; Paper - Chocolate Chip Textured, Regal Rose, Garden Green, Whisper White; Ink - Chocolate Chip, Garden Green, Regal Rose; Accessories - Regal Rose 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Chocolate Chip 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Silver Eyelets, Crop-a-Dial, Dimensionals, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Scallop Edge Punch, Envelopes, Velcro, Paper Snips

I wanted to keep the layout on the front simple so that it can be used for any occasion.  It is created using one 12" x 12" piece of Chocolate Chip card stock along with 5 plain white envelopes.

It looks like a purse when it is closed but when you open it up there are spaces to hold at least 5 finished cards with matching envelopes (10 if the cards are thin)!

The white rectangle piece that you can see on the inside is sticky velcro that wouldn't stick!  I bought a pack of light duty velcro tape to use because the heavier stuff is usually over kill on cards and paper projects but when I put it on the Chocolate Chip card stock it wouldn't stick.  Every time I tried to open it  up the velcro would come right off the bottom.  I was ready to throw it away until I decided to read the directions and found out that it doesn't achieve a full bond for 24 hours.  I've never heard of this before but set it aside and when I went to open it the next day it worked perfectly.  Who would have thunk it!  lol
