. . but words will break your spirit.
I'm going to jump up on my soap box for a moment but please keep reading and you will be rewarded with a card at the end.
Please be mindful of the words that come out of your mouth when you are speaking to children. I grew up in a very abusive home and can tell you that the words that you speak to your children and the names that you call them will damage them far into their adult life.
Don't call them names, don't belittle them, don't ridicule them, don't take your insecurities out on them, don't blame them for your mistakes, don't make your problems theirs, listen to them, cherish them, bless them, respect them and love them. Truly love them with your actions and with your words.
If you are awesome parents (not perfect but awesome) then remember that you are setting an example for your children's friends and for every child that you interact with.
I didn't know that a different world existed until I met a new friend in 8th grade and began spending time with her family. The way that her parents treated her and her brother and sister impacted me greatly and showed me what a family could be. They changed my life because for the first time I realized that my life could be different.
{{{ Jumping down }}}
Here is a card that I made to give to my IL's for Easter. The colors that I used are So Saffron, Purely Pomegranate and Wild Wasabi. I just love the current In Colors from Stampin' Up! and am going to be sad to see them retire in July.
The main image is from the Embrace Life stamp set and I just stamped it over and over with Jet Black StazOn onto Whisper White card stock. I used my aquapainter and the ink re-fills to watercolor them in.
To get the shading from one color to the next I first colored the entire flower with a light layer of So Saffron and then I added a light layer of Purely Pomegranate going from the top of the flower towards the bottom but not all the way down. Then I added another layer of the PP that was a little darker, again starting at the top and ending a little sooner than the last layer. I kept this up until I got the shading I wanted and then colored the top edge of the flower with full strength PP. I find that the key to the layers of color really blending together is to do one flower at a time and not letting it completely dry before adding the next layer of color. This helps to not get lines of color as you go from one shade to the next, they blend together better.
To soften the whiteness of the main image I sponged So Saffron very lightly over the top half of the panel and Wild Wasabi over the bottom half. For the saying layer I stamp the flower image with the So Saffron over the words that were stamped with the Black StazOn. Then adhered all the layers together.
The final touch was to sponge So Saffron around the edge of the base card to add some texture to it. You can see it a little better in the 2nd photo.
